Riot

The film explores the consequences of the Rodney King judgement in 1992 and the subsequent unrest through four narrative strands. A Chinese shop owner tries to find an understanding with his teenage son. A Hispanic teenager strives to lead a straight life and do well in school in order to provide for his current and future family. A white LAPD officer struggles with commitments from his new girlfriend while dealing with the surprisingly aggressive attitude of his colleagues. A middle-class African-American man who has just moved his new family out of the "ghetto" visits the shop his father used to own and tries to deliver good news to his mother. These four stories follow very different plots, but intersect over the course of the film.
