For Antonia Brico, there is only one goal: she wants to become a conductor! In the 1920s, when she is studying, this seems almost impossible. Since the world of classical music is dominated by men, Antonia has to work twice as hard as the men. She is not taken seriously, and both other conductors and the musicians themselves mock her. In their opinion, Antonia should at best sit in the orchestra and not stand at the podium.
